Collecting witness statement during criminal cases is standard procedure, but here’s a weird story you’ve probably never heard before. England’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) insisted on a statement from an officer, even after they were told that said officer was a DOG.
Even so, the CPS demanded a witness statement from Officer PC Peach. The move came even after other officers had informed CPS that PC Peach is actually PD Peach (PD for police dog), the Telegraph reported.
Nevertheless, CPS had its way. The K9 ended up submitting a statement that had the world cracking up.
In the statement, he provided his name, age and signature following this oath, “This statement is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and I make it knowing that, if it is tendered in evidence, I shall be liable to prosecution if I have willfully stated in it, anything which I know to be false, or do not believe to be true.”
PD Peach’s statement was obviously written by his handler. Nevertheless, it sums up what really happened in what appears to be in clear and concise dog language.
“I chase him. I bite him. Bad man. He tasty. Good boy. Good boy Peach.”
